Walking Through Nanjing’s Hidden Historic Neighborhood (Yihelu 颐和路)

Today I’m walking through the Yihelu (颐和路) area of Nanjing, one of the city’s most beautiful and historic neighborhoods. Built in the 1920s and 1930s when Nanjing served as the capital of the Republic of China, this district is known for its tree-lined streets and Western-influenced villas. Many of the homes once belonged to government officials, military leaders, and prominent families. Unlike the modern skyline that defines much of China today, Yihelu feels quiet, historic, and almost frozen in time.
