Hiking to Borer's Falls & Rock Chapel: Hamilton Bruce Trail Hikes

I enjoyed this 5.6 km (3.5 mile) hike on a sunny afternoon in late November when there was a maximum amount of crunchy autumn leaves on the ground. I started in Cascades Park in Dundas and headed east over to the Rock Chapel Nature Sanctuary in the Royal Botanical Gardens. I stopped to admire Borer's Falls, then continued on the Bruce Trail until the Ray Lowes Side Trail, which brought me to where I parked my car at the Borer's Falls Dog Park on York Road. Along the way, I talk about Clara's Climb, stopped briefly at the underwhelming Dyment Falls and I also share a bit about the ancient Eastern White Cedar trees that grow on the cliffs of the Niagara Escarpment, which are some of the oldest trees in Ontario. There is a bus loop about 1 km down York Road towards the town of Dundas, so it is feasible to park at the dog park and take a bus to the beginning of this hike at Cascades Park. It's not ideal because the buses are a bit infrequent and you'd be adding over 2 km of walking from the trailheads to the bus stops. I opted to skip the hassle and get a ride from my parked car to the beginning of the hike! It's a paid app, but it is so helpful to help you figure out where you can and can't park, nearby bus stops, access points & side trails leading to the Bruce Trail, and current Trail Updates information.
