Haixia Qin, MD, PhD | Medical Oncology

Dr. Haixia Qin (pronounced “chin”) is a medical oncologist on the cancer care team at Paoli Hospital. As a medical oncologist, she specializes in using medicines to destroy cancer cells or to stop them from growing and spreading. Medical oncologists play a key role in the treatment of most cancers and, thanks to dramatic advances, have many new medicines they can use. While these medicines work in different ways, they all allow a more personalized way to treat cancer than has been possible with standard chemotherapy alone. Dr. Qin has experience using all types of cancer medicines, including the newest targeted therapies, immunotherapies, hormone therapies, and medicines being tested in clinical trials. Dr. Qin treats all cancers that can form in solid tissues of the body. This includes breast, lung, colorectal, and prostate cancers; cancers of the upper GI tract (esophagus, stomach, liver, pancreas, biliary tract); cancers of the urinary tract (bladder, kidneys, ureters); skin and soft tissue cancers; brain and central nervous system cancers; head and neck cancers; and lymphoma. In addition to her expertise treating cancer, Dr. Qin has significant experience caring for hospitalized patients with complex medical problems. A native of China, Dr. Qin obtained her medical degree and completed a 3-year program in medical oncology in China before moving to the United States to pursue further education and clinical training, including a doctorate (PhD) in molecular medicine, a residency in internal medicine, and a fellowship in medical oncology. Dr. Qin joined Main Line Health in 2024, after 2 years in practice at MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper, where she was an associate professor of medicine at the Cooper Medical School of Rowan University.
