This is a review of the Smart Sensor AR866 digital hot-film wind speed meter from Meterics. For detailed specifications, visit http://meterics.com/product/smart-sen... Video Transcript: Hi everyone, today I'm going to show you how to use this digital anemometer, it is from Smart Sensor and the model number is AR866. This is actually not a regular anemometer, it is a hot-film anemometer, also know as a hot-wire. It basically means the sensor type is different. It is actually a hot-film, so it's like a small chip, temperature regulated. So let's go a head and turn this meter on. And once it's on, you'll see that you'll get readings instantly, it actually has a count down so that is for the chip, the hot-wire to basically adjust. And once that's done. The top part is basically the Airflow or Wind Speed. Bottom half is the temperature. So let's start with the units, the Unit button is here, so if you want to switch between the wind speed units, you just basically click this and you basically have all the units necessary. Also if you want to switch between Celsius and Fahrenheit, you basically hold this button. As you can see, you're going to Fahrenheit and now you're back on Celsius. Also this meter actually comes equipped with a back light, so if you hold this button here, you will get a very green and bright back light, so perfect if you're measuring in darker surroundings, or even during night time. Also it comes with a Hold Function, meaning it will just freeze the screen, if you hold that. So numbers won't fluctuate and jump around. Also it comes with a Maximum and Minimum Function, this is basically anything above the current number is going to show for maximum and anything below is going to show for minimum. Basically maximum reading in real time and minimum reading in real time. Also you can actually record the readings, using this button and you can actually read it on the screen, using this button. But you shouldn't worry about that too much because you can actually transfer all the data stored in this meter on to your computer, because this comes with a USB function. So to switch to Airflow, because right now we're on Wind Speed. You just click this once, this button, and as you can see, it says Flow up there, so now it's Airflow, you actually have units of CMM and also CFM. So the CFM is going to measure in feet and CMM is going to measure in meters. Also you can actually manually set the area, and you actually use these two buttons, the arrow keys to do so. And basically if you're done, you just want to click this once, and you're good to go, but before you do that. I'm just going to show you how this meter actually reacts to wind. And lets see, turn it on again, and turn the back light on. Oh excuse me, it's actually counting down. And there we go. So I'm just going to turn the back light on, and I actually have a CPU fan next to me so I'm just going to turn that on, and what you want to do here is, you want to pull down the safety lid so to say, to the hot-wire chip here. And just want to point it to the wind, and there you go, as you can see, very accurate readings, the hot-wire sensor is a lot more accurate than the regular propellers, and there you go. And once you're done, basically make sure to recap, because after all it's temperature regulated, so you want to keep that safe and once you're done, you just want to turn the meter off by clicking, the power button once. And that's all for today, and I hope you found this useful and I'll see you guys next time. Thank you.
