This will be a 1-hour discussion live-streamed on our Youtube channel on the 15th Augst at 4 pm CET on the theme of "Warm Data". Warm Data are contextual and relational information about complex systems. In other words, warm data involve transcontextual information about the interrelationships that integrate a complex system, as well as interwoven complex systems. Unlike cold data that will tell us about the properties of the parts, warm data holds out the possibility to start to talk and include the context within which events take place. In order to interface with any complex system without disrupting the circuitry of the interdependencies that give it its integrity we must look at the spread of relationships that make the system robust. Using only analysis of statistical data will offer conclusions that can point to actions that are out of sync with the complexity of the situation. Information without interrelationality is likely to lead us toward actions that are misinformed, thereby creating further destructive patterns. Guest speakers: Nora Bateson is a systems thinker, an award-winning filmmaker, writer and educator, as well as President of the International Bateson Institute, based in Sweden. Her work asks the question “How we can improve our perception of the complexity we live within, so we may improve our interaction with the world?”. Jeff Emmett is an electrical engineer by training, and has been working with the CommonsStack.org and Block.Science to research and translate the biggest ideas that will move the needle on meaningful human progress. His projects include rethinking economics into systems of mutual support, redesigning voting systems for collective intelligence, and using agent based modeling to create complexity-respecting digital twins that move us towards an age of Computer Aided Governance. ------------------------------ What are your thoughts?
