The final stage of the first day of the 60th Ypres Rally, a 2nd run on SS Langemark. SS Langemark is 8.61 km long and has changed after a year of absense, most of the stage is driven in the other direction compared to the 2023 stage. Back in 2016, this part of the stage was also driven in this direction. The competitors today drive in the order determined in the qualifying stage yesterday. Stéphane Lefebvre (5, Toyota GR Yaris Rally2) completed in 4:30.6 (avg 114.5 km/h) 2. Hayden Paddon (2, Hyundai i20 N Rally2) +0.4 3. Jos Verstappen (3, Škoda Fabia RS Rally2) +0.9 4. Freddy Loix (11, Škoda Fabia RS Rally2) +1.2 5. Dani Sordo (6, Porsche 992 Rally GT) +2.4 6. Bernd Casier (9, Škoda Fabia RS Rally2) +4.8 7. Romet Jürgenson (10, Ford Fiesta Rally2) & Niels Reynvoet (7, Citroën C3 Rally2) both +6.4 9. Davy Vanneste (12, Citroën C3 Rally2) +6.8 10. Bjorn Syx (8, Toyota GR Yaris Rally2) +9.3 After the first day, Hayden Paddon is leading the rally, 3.8 seconds before Freddy Loix, followed by Stéphane Lefebvre on +5.3. Dani Sordo is the first non-Rally2 car on P6 on only +21.6. After the previous stage, Cédric Cherain (1, Porsche 992 Rally GT) was only 0.1 second behind him, but he made a small mistake on this stage (halfspin) and was stuck for a while, he lost 50 seconds and dropped 6 positions. Stellantis Cup Belux top 5: 1. Lander Depotter (45, Opel Corsa Rally4) was the fastest and completed in 4:56.8 (avg 104.4 km/h) 2. Manuel Merlevede (47, Opel Corsa Rally4) +,9.7 3. Jordy Cruys (53, Opel Corsa Rally4) +10.7 4. Simon Rubrecht (54, Peugeot 208 Rally4) +21.7 5. Lukas Thiele (46, Opel Corsa Rally4) +23.5 After day 1 Depotter is in a strong lead, 3:10.9 ahead of Cruys, Merlevede is 3rd on +3:46.0. Merlevede was on +19.8 after SS6 but lost over 3 minutes with a puncture in SS7. Thiele also started strong and was the leader after 2 stages, but he broke a wheel in SS3. The stage had to be paused while he replaced the wheel in the middle of the road (also Manuel Merlevede had to stop, but got a normalised time of course). See my video of SS3 where I was recording before that corner :-) Belgium Junior top 3: 1. Lander Depotter 2. Maxim Decock (49, Opel Corsa Rally4) +0.1 3. Lander Dhaene (51, Opel Corsa Rally4) +13.6 Here too, Depotter is leading, 1:14.9 before Lander Dhaene; Maxim Decock is 3rd on +1:31.6. Decock lost around 1:15 minute after a mistake on SS6.
