Armação de Búzios, which is often just called Buzios, is a beach town located about 110 miles northeast of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It’s a popular vacation destination for locals and tourists alike. Buzios has a prime position on the Costa do Sol, which is Brazil’s Sun Coast. The weather in Buzios tends to be warm and dry most of the year, which makes it an excellent beach escape from Rio. Buzios is so popular because it is home to some of the best beaches in Brazil. There are 23 different beaches in Buzios. We spent several days in Buzios after my brother and sister-in-law’s wedding. It was the perfect retreat to relax and unwind after the wedding festivities. Before the 1960s, Buzios was nothing more than a little fishing village. In 1964, the French actress Brigitte Bardot visited Buzios and fell in love with the town. Her visit was well-documented and somewhat put the village on the map. Since then, Buzios has become a popular tourist destination for wealthy Cariocas and Argentinians. The city is known as an upscale beach resort in Brazil. Nevertheless, it retains most of its small-town charm.
