Come join me in this walking tour to one of the famous tourist attractions in Cebu City, PLAZA INDEPENDENCIA, situated alongside Fort San Pedro and Malacanang sa Sugbo/National Museum of the Philippines-Cebu, another famous tourist attractions in Cebu City especially among locals. In this video, you'll see what's inside PLAZA INDEPENDENCIA CEBU. There is a children's playground outside of the fort but within the premises of Fort San Pedro and Plaza Independencia where children and adults can play. PLAZA INDEPENDENCIA CEBU is one of the most historically significant places in Cebu City, Cebu, Philippines. There is an obelisk at the center of the plaza dedicated to MIGUEL LOPEZ DE LEGAZPI, the first Spanish Governor-General of the Philippines who established the first Spanish settlement in the Philippines. Plaza Independencia was formerly called PLAZA DE ARMAS in the 1600's. The was park was used as a military training and parade grounds back then. Prior to its name as Plaza Independencia, aside from it being called Plaza de Armas, some of the former names of Plaza Independia are: Plaza Mayor Cristina and Plaza Libertad. ENTRANCE FEE TO PLAZA INDEPENDENCIA is FREE. The park is popular among locals. You can easily move around at this big property, jog, walk and play. Plaza Indendencia Cebu is a close walking distance to some other famous tourist spots in Cebu City such as Basilica Minore del Sto Nino de Cebu, Magellan's Cross and CCLEX is a view from there.
