Ferrari’s victory at the United States Grand Prix, held at the 5.513-kilometer Circuit of The Americas in Austin, came as a surprise, especially considering the dominant performance over their rivals. Such supremacy hadn’t been witnessed since their one-two finish at the Australian Grand Prix in early 2022. This season, however, Ferrari seems to have turned a corner, with the SF-24 showing steady improvements rather than stagnating like its predecessor, the F1-75, whose development was halted mid-season. While the victory in Texas has sparked widespread excitement, it's crucial for the team to manage expectations carefully. The 2024 Formula 1 season has underscored the importance of staying grounded, as Ferrari’s goal of claiming the constructors’ championship is within reach. What once seemed like a distant possibility could now become a reality, provided the SF-24 maintains the adaptability needed to repeat its dominant performance in future races. Team principal Fred Vasseur, as usual, is tasked with tempering the team’s enthusiasm, ensuring that focus remains firmly on the upcoming challenge: the Mexican Grand Prix. The second triple-header of the season has been especially taxing, both physically and emotionally, for all involved, and the teams need to reset quickly. There’s little room for complacency, especially with the championship hanging by a thread as the season enters its final five rounds. Vasseur has urged his team to remain calm, warning that the race in Mexico City presents a completely different set of challenges compared to Austin. The high-altitude circuit at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez could shake up the pecking order. With thinner air at such elevations, teams can run higher levels of downforce without suffering the usual penalties. As a result, efficiency becomes less critical—a scenario that doesn’t favor Red Bull, but could work in Ferrari’s favor, given that their SF-24 produces more drag than the RB20 under similar conditions. That said, excelling in Texas doesn’t guarantee the same outcome in Mexico.
