Deportee looking out through plane window STORYLINE: A Venezuelan state airline plane carrying 178 migrants deported from the United States landed at La Guaira airport early on Friday. It was the second group to be repatriated following the resumption of transfers announced last weekend by US and Venezuelan authorities. The arrival of the flight comes amid new tensions raised between the two countries when the United States sent a group of Venezuelans to El Salvador. On March 15, the United States deported more than 200 Venezuelans to a maximum security prison in El Salvador, alleging they belonged to the Tren de Aragua criminal gang. The Trump administration deported them by invoking the US' Alien Enemies Act of 1798 and proclaiming the Aragua Train a foreign enemy force. Venezuela's Interior Minister Diosdado Cabello received Friday deportees and said 178 people came on the plane, including 13 women. "Until today, we have not received a single person belonging to the Tren de Aragua," said Diosdado Cabello. The Trump administration has not provided evidence that the deportees are members of Tren de Aragua or that they committed any crime in the US. Cabello also spoke about US Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, who recently visited the El Salvador mega-prison in which more than 200 Venezuelans are jailed, saying a video of her at the facility "was like she was in a zoo."
