Replacing Valve Stem Seals on my W211 Mercedes E500 My 2006 Mercedes E500 was suffering from excessive oil consumption. Upon further inspection, I noticed the valve cover gaskets were leaking. I was also able to diagnose bad valve stem seals due to the blue smoke occurring after idling for a while. Simply blipping the throttle after a few mins of idling would send a big cloud of smoke in the air… and I mean BIG. Replacing the valve stem seals fixed that issue and my oil burning woes are over. During reassembly I also slapped on some new valve cover gaskets which fixed my oil leaking issues as well. This repair should work for any M112 or M113 engine, as they are essentially the same engine with +/- 2 cylinders. Do this repair at your own risk. Good luck!
