Bodycam Video Shows Shootout Between Rochester Police Officers and Homicide Suspect

(Disclaimer: The content in this video is intended for educational and informational purposes only) Rochester, N.Y. — On June 22, 2025, at 11:40 a.m., Rochester Police Officers located 35-year-old Edison Estremera-Cohen riding a bike on N. Clinton Ave. Officers had information that he had previously shot and killed David Vazquez, 30, at 24 Oscar St, earlier in the day. During the apprehension, Estremera-Cohen pulled out a 9mm handgun and fired one round in the direction of an Officer from inches away. A second Officer returned fire, striking Estremera-Cohen multiple times. After being hospitalized for his injuries, Estremera-Cohen was booked on June 26, in the Monroe County Jail. Estremera-Cohen has since been indicted by a Grand Jury for two counts of Murder in the 2nd Degree, Attempted Aggravated Murder of a Police Officer, Robbery in the 1st Degree, and four counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree. Estremera-Cohen was known to law enforcement and never showed up for sentencing after being convicted of two felonies last summer.
