I'm out again for another stomp in the blistering cold sunshine of the Peak District. This time I'm walking along a section of the former London & North Western Railways 'Ashbourne to Buxton Branch', from Parsley Hay, down to Hartington. I walk along the Tissington Trail, a path along the former trackbed that was actually one of the first railways converted to a walking route, back in 1968. I stroll through stunning and unspoilt scenery, before arriving at Hartington where the signal box remains in perfect condition, as if it was still serving its original purpose. I take a look at the remains of a railway workers building, a 18th century lime kiln, and the beautiful Hand Dale Viaduct, the site of a gruesome discovery by railway builders back in 1897.
