PIKO America gives you the newest products from PIKO... http://www.piko-america.com/ NOTE: We recommend you run your loco slowly forward (using track power) to get the wheels where you want. Do NOT turn the wheels by-hand/with-force, as this can lead to stripped gears. In this short video, Dan at PIKO America shows you how to install PIKO's new metal crankpins on your loco. The process is quite simple, but you will want to have a 9mm or 3/8" bit and a pair of pliers to assist you. The video starts by mentioning which crankpins work for different locos, then moves on to showing you how to remove your old plastic crankpins. After that, placing the crankpin housing onto the wheels is shown - as well as how to use the placement tool. Then Dan demonstrates how to apply the screws and washers and tighten the new crankpins on. (After finishing one side, you likely will want to run your loco on track power to adjust the crankpin location to the bottom on the other side. This is useful, because PIKO designed loco wheels with the needed quarter-turn for better running.) This update/upgrade should only take a few minutes on each side and should reduce wear on your siderods. We hope you enjoy your PIKO trains!
