I made these as Christmas presents, and liked them well enough to crank out a few more. They're pretty easy to make, and IMO they turned out pretty nice, but they do take a while. I used my Lincoln MIG welder, 4" angle grinder, a hammer, pliers/wire cutters, spray paint, JB weld, coat hangers, and some scrap sheet metal from a barbecue. Other materials will likely work just as well. Maybe jar lids would work in place of the round bits. No welder? Scraps of copper mains wiring look the same as coat hangers once they're painted, and they're pretty easy to solder. You can solder coat hangers, too, but you'll need a good flux paste (I've used a plumbing flux called Rubyfluid) to get the solder to stick. You can use spring clamps as heat sinks to protect the completed solder joints from re-melting as you heat other areas.
