Weinstein 214 State Route 18 East Brunswick, New Jersey 08816 TRANSCRIPT: Hello my name is Edward Weinstein and I've been practicing divorce and family law here in my hometown of East Brunswick, New Jersey for the past 20 years. In today's video, I shall provide you with essential tips that will assist you in protecting your child during your divorce. First, it is imperative that you insulate your child from the divorce process. Obviously, parents should never discuss the divorce in the presence of their children. Not only may this cause your child immediate harm and distress, but a more serious concern is the potential long-term psychological and emotional damage to the child which may follow them into their adulthood. Please protect your children from the divorce process and never allow a situation that would put your child in the middle of your marital dispute. Second, to the very best of your ability, always strive not to disrupt your child's day-to-day routine. While I certainly understand that co-parenting shall inevitably change your child's schedule in the long term, it is essential that your child's day-to-day schedule is disturbed as little as possible throughout your divorce. Finally, unless one parent is a threat to the welfare and safety of the child, I always encourage parents to dialogue….and to come to an agreement as to a custody and parenting time schedule that is in the best interests of your child. Again, the mantra at the Law Offices of Edward R Weinstein is always…kids first. Therefore please do not ever hesitate to contact my office to learn more about how my law firm may best protect the interests of your child. Thank you.
