Wolfgang Flür is renowned in the Electronic Music Scene. He joined Florian Schneider and Ralf Hütter (who had started a band in 1970) as their Drummer / Percussionist in 1973. They were later joined by Karl Bartos in 1975 to make the ‘Robot Pop’ quartet that we all know and love - Kraftwerk. Kraftwerk’s music had an incredible influence on shaping a diverse range of modern musical artists and genres, including synth-pop, hip hop, post-punk, techno, house music, ambient and dance / club music in general. They have been awarded a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award and inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. In 1987 Wolfgang Flür left the band, followed by Karl Bartos in 1990. Flür went on to found the band Yamo in 1997 and played percussion with the German synth-pop band Dyko in their live shows in 2009. Flür released his first solo album in 2015 (Eloquence). He then collaborated with German dance act U96 in 2020. His second solo album (Magazine 1) was released in 2022 and had collaborations with Peter Duggal, Peter Hook (New Order), Maps, Carl Cox, Claudia Brucken and Midge Ure. Flür’s third solo album (Times) was released this year and featured collaborations with Boris Blank (Yello), Peter Hook, Juan Atkins and more. Wolfgang has been DJing and playing live sets more recently and this video is just a snippet from a live set that he performed at The Crescent Community Venue in York on 22/11/2019. I just wish I had videoed more of the set in hindsight. Wolfgang was very approachable coming out to greet fans after the show and talk. It was a great gig in general and a chance to meet one of my musical heroes. Enjoy the Music. Big Love ❤️ to All.
