Mutu’s work takes as its main subject the body of the black woman, object of the desire, violence and place for the projection of racial archetypes. The End of carrying All is a tale with universal resonance, a contemporary version of the myth of Sisyphus. It shows a black woman, alone in an apocalyptic landscape that resonates with rumours of contemporary civilisation. Equipped with the tools necessary for her survival, she finds herself little by little buried under a mass of objects. Weighed down a burden that gets heavier and heavier, she falls and turns into a primitive creature that ends up disappearing.
