However, concerns about health risks like dehydration and hyperthermia led to its classification as an illegal substance. In recent years, new research has explored MDMA's therapeutic potential for treating PTSD, anxiety, and other conditions. This has prompted a reconsideration of a once stigmatized "party drug" and raised thought-provoking questions around responsible medicinal use. My new documentary dives into the science behind MDMA, from its chemical composition to the latest research on its risks and benefits. I discuss MDMA's checkered past and exciting future prospects as a therapy. My name is Dr. Vera Tarman, and I am an Addictions Physician based in Toronto, Canada. I am the Medical Director of Renascent and a senior staff physician at Salvation Army.
