Nathan Drake and Victor “Sully” Sullivan explore a Malagasy city after splitting from Sam to narrow down their search for pirate treasure. They infiltrate a clock tower marked with Edward England’s sigil and solve a complex bell puzzle that reveals Henry Avery’s sigil, opening a hidden passage. Inside, they find a chamber dedicated to pirate founders Avery and Thomas Tew, and a rotating wheel puzzle. Using star patterns hidden in paintings of three other founders—Baldridge, Bonny, and Condent—Nate deciphers the mechanism, revealing fragments of a map. Nate assembles the fragments into a complete map, identifying the phrase “Pro Deus quod licentia” and realizing it points to Libertalia, the legendary pirate utopia. However, Rafe Adler contacts them through a hacked phone, revealing Shoreline forces are closing in on Sam’s location. Destroying the phone, Nate and Sully rush through a chaotic chase sequence through the city—fleeing gunfire, crashing vehicles, and pursuing an armored truck—until they reunite with Sam, escape by motorcycle, and destroy their pursuers at a shipyard. Back at their motel, Nate deciphers the map’s cipher and confirms Libertalia’s location. Their excitement is cut short when Nate’s wife, Elena, appears—having discovered his lies about the so‑called “Malaysia job.” She confronts him about hiding Sam’s existence and his obsession with treasure hunting. Nate insists his motivation is saving Sam, not greed, but Elena no longer trusts him and leaves heartbroken. Afterward, Sully urges Nate to go after her, suggesting there are safer ways to help Sam. Nate refuses, fixated on continuing the treasure hunt. Seeing he cannot convince him, Sully gives up and leaves, followed by Sam, leaving Nate alone with his guilt and determination.
