You just play the B string notes (there are only 2 in the riff!) on your high G. The 6th fret on the B string (my #1string here) equals the 10th fret on high G string. For the second time through which uses the 8th fret on the B string here, that would equal the 12th fret on the high G string. You can do it! I'm sorry I can't easily respond to comments left on youtube. I try! You can also direct questions to my Facebook page Evolution Stoneware Pottery or email me through my website www.EvolutionStoneware.com. This is a lesson on how to play the 80's hit Money For Nothing by Dire Straits on 4 string cigar box guitar. This video was made for you by Janis Wilson Hughes, owner of Evolution Stoneware Pottery. Sorry the camera angles aren't perfect. Mark Knopfler varies the way he plays the opening part of the riff on the second time throughout the song. I'm showing how I like to play it. I played this on a ceramic body guitar that I made. The guitar has a rod piezo pickup. That is going through an outboard piezo preamp box that I built to control tone eq and then going straight into my Roland Micro Cube amp. The emulated output from the amp was recorded with a Zoom R8 unit. No further processing was done. The amp settings are shown at the beginning of the video.
