Another contender for first Italian restaurant in America is a spot in Philadelphia, but many people consider Fior d'Italia in San Francisco to be the oldest. And Fior d'Italia the oldest Italian restaurant in the USA, is still very well-reviewed today and has been around since 1886. It's been around for almost 140 years! Just because it's historical though does not mean it's the best. But I am excited to always try historical restaurants in America and the oldest restaurants in America. Because of how much Italian American food has influenced American food, it'll be really interesting to see what the oldest Italian restaurant in the country potentially is like, and to see if it still resembles Italian American food today, or if it resembles more Italian food today.
