Assembly Elections 2026: Assam, Kerala, Puducherry Polls on 9 April | Tamil Nadu, WB Voting On23 Apr

The Election Commission has announced the schedule for assembly elections in five states and one Union Territory. Assam's 126 assembly constituencies, Kerala's 140 constituencies, and Puducherry will go to polls in a single phase on 9 April 2026. Tamil Nadu's 234 assembly constituencies will vote on 23 April in one phase. West Bengal's 294 assembly constituencies will conduct polling in two phases, with 152 seats voting on 23 April and 142 seats on 29 April. The counting of votes for all five states and Puducherry will take place on 4 May 2026. Additionally, eight by-elections will be held across Goa, Gujarat, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Nagaland and Tripura, with polling on 9 April for Goa, Karnataka, Nagaland and Tripura constituencies, and on 23 April for Gujarat and Maharashtra constituencies.
