I would be rather careful no matter how much or how little you have in your cartridge. I would let it sit on the cleaner a few seconds before very gently pressing it down on the device and never moving it back and forth. I think a lot of people make the mistake of thinking that you just let it sit for a second and it is clean, but I can tell you that it might take a few times to clean completely and not one. I had a rather dirty cartridge, and I could clearly see the debris on the cartridge with my eyes without a magnifying glass either. I was able to get it totally clean after a few times. I am satisfied with it and only time will tell. I had an onzow zero dust for a long time like 20 years ago too. I just thought I would try something different and they are only $5 apart in price.
