Malaco recording artists Keri Leigh & the Blue Devils perform an acoustic version of "No Beginner at the Blues," title track from their second album. This video comes their 1998 unplugged tour and was recorded at the Zoo Bar's 25th Anniversary Concert. The Zoo was always one of Keri and the band's favorite venues (they played the 20th Anniversary Concert there in `93 as well.) So here they are at a place that feels like home to them. They're obviously relaxed and having fun. "No Beginner at the Blues" was written especially for Keri by the legendary songwriting team of Frankie Miller and Will Jennings. Frankie Miller's songs have been sung by the likes of Johnny Cash, Ray Charles, Rod Stewart, The Bellamy Brothers, Kim Carnes, Waylon Jennings, Bob Seger, Bonnie Tyler, Roy Orbison, Etta James, Joe Cocker, Joe Walsh and The Eagles. Will Jennings is probably best known for writing the lyrics to "My Heart Will Go On" for Celine Dion, which was a #1 hit from the "Titanic" film soundtrack. He also wrote the Grammy-award winning "Tears in Heaven" for Eric Clapton. His songs have been covered by Steve Winwood, B. B. King, Peter Wolf, Randy Crawford, Barry Manilow, Jimmy Buffett, Rodney Crowell, Roy Orbison, Joe Cocker, Eric Clapton, Frankie Miller, Whitney Houston, Tim McGraw, Linda Ronstadt, Gregg Allman, Aaron Neville, and Diana Ross. Keri sings this song like she might have written it as her autobiography! Somehow these two songwriters got inside her soul, even though they were complete strangers at the time according to Keri. LYRICS: "No Beginner at the Blues" Frankie Miller/Will Jennings You ask me how it feels Now that we're not together You ask me how it feels Now that I sleep alone Well its bad On most days I've been had Like always But you know I'm no beginner at the blues And the wind is kinda cold when it Blows through my bedroom window And this bottle's kinda old Now that I've drunk it all I won't care tomorrow I can beg, steal and borrow But you know I'm no beginner at the blues I'll go down to the doctor And get a brand new heart One that won't break all the time I'll find a sweet young thing And make a brand new start And love on down the line I'll see you on the street I'll have my brand new baby And you'll see how he looks with all my love inside And you'll feel kind of strange Cause your luck Honey it changed And you'll know you are a beginner at the blues
