I took sloppy joes to a new level! With a homemade, sauce, I smoked them on the Pitboss Lockhart Platinum! Turned out amazing!! Great recipe for any occasion and especially for when you have kids!! Smoky Joes will always be a hit!! I seasoned 80/20 ground beef with #sucklebuster SPG and Texas Gold Dust. Spread it out in tin drip pan and smoked for about 40 minutes or until IT hits 140. Sliced up green and red peppers and placed them on the smoker for about 15-20 minutes. Chopped up peppers and added to homemade sauce consisting of 1 1/2 cup ketchup. About 2 tbsp mustard. 2 tbsp brown sugar and 2 tbsp bourbon. Pulled the meat off smoker, drained and mashed up in cast iron skillet. Then added sauce and placed back in the smoker to reduce and let the flavors mix for about 20 more minutes. That’s it guys!
