THE SOUND OF STEAM - A RARE CALL FROM LIBERTY BELLE'S STEAM TURBINE

Filmed from the main deck aft of the Liberty Belle, looking toward the starboard engine, this moment captures something truly special—the sound of her steam turbine. For those who remember, that distinct whirring tone once echoed through Frontierland and Liberty Square, a sound you could feel as much as you could hear. In her final months, the turbine seldom ran, making its return here all the more meaningful. The steam turbine was the primary source of power generation for the vessel, located forward of the boiler. Electrical supply was backed up by a small diesel generator when the turbine was inoperable. As mentioned before, the turbine was inoperable for most of 2025, except for a handful of days, and this is one of them. A small detail of the boat and experience, but an important one. It’s a sound from another time—one that carried across the water, through the trees, and into the hearts of those who've spent considerable time along the river, such as myself.
