2025 BMW M8 Competition Gran Coupe POV test drive, spirited drive, highway drive, launch control, 0-60 acceleration, exhaust sound, review. The BMW M8 Gran Coupe represents a segment which very few can afford in this day and age. It’s a very niche product with a starting price of $140,000 dollars, and as tested we’re looking at $171,000. It's the highest performance, most hardcore variant of the BMW 8-series, and it has to serve a dual purpose - as a comfortable daily or a track weapon that you can take to a race track on a weekend. If we compare it to the regular 8-series, it has revised chassis, steeting, and powertrain, so, let’s talk about what this thing is from a technical standpoint. The M8 sits on the CLAR platform and features a double wishbone front suspension and a multi link setup in the back, combined with adaptive dampers, which use data from body movement, road surface conditions and steering input, to adjust each damper individually. We get 6-piston front calipers, floating single piston in the back and we can obviously upgrade to carbon ceramics for $8,500. Under the hood we can find the S63 4.4L twin turbo V8, which delivers 617 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque. It’s obviously a M-specific motor with the twin-scroll turbos positioned within the V of the engine block for better thermal efficiency and response, upgraded cooling and oil supply. All models feature an 8-speed automatic transmission provided by ZF and xDrive, which by default is a rear-biased system, but we also have an option to disable the front axle and make the car rear wheel drive only. We also get an an active locking diff, and what’s interesting, is that the M8 doesn’t get rear wheel steering, unlike non-M models of the 8-series, but that’s good because we have more natural feeling car. Other performance cars to consider are an Audi RS7, Mercedes AMG GT 63S, Porsche Panamera, BMW M3, BMW M4, BMW M5, Dodge Hellcat. 00:00 - Sneak Peak 00:06 - Exterior 00:35 - Interior (Front Seats) 03:35 - Interior (Backseat) 04:30 - Trunk 04:40 - Exterior 05:20 - Engine 05:30 - Drive 06:53 - Highway 10:39 - Backroad 12:32 - Launch Control 12:42 - Backroad Specs: Engine: 4.4L twin-turbo V8 | 617 hp | 553 lb-ft of torque Transmission: 8-speed automatic | AWD Price as tested: $171,575 #bmw #bmwm #bmwm8 #bmwm8competition #m8 #review #cars #pov Follow me on Instagram and TikTok @tom.swiatek
