DIY 3D Printer Dual Z Axis upgrade just cost $27, for Ender 3, CR-10 and almost any FDM 3D printers

In my last video, I upgraded this printer to a direct drive extruder, you may do this to an Ender 3, CR10 or almost any FDM printer. It’s a pretty simple upgrade, you just need to print a mount and move the stepper motor and the extruder from the original position to the top of your hotend to get rid of the long bowden tube to improve extrusion and retraction. But the problem is a direct drive extruder will add more weight on the X axis. Since I moved the extruder and stepper motor here, I notice the print head will drop significantly on the unsupported side. So, I also need to upgrade this printer to a dual Z-Axis to provide extra support to this side of the gantry and it should solve the problem. Normally, I can just buy an upgrade kit for around $50. But for me and many other 3D printer users and electronic hobbyists, we always have spare parts, like the boxes behind me, there are screws, wires, connectors, all kinds of parts. Considering a new entry level 3D printer costs less than $200, personally I don’t want to spend $50 to buy a kit that we just need 1 or 2 parts from. Here are the items we need for this upgrade(Affiliate Links): (1) Stepper Motor and Cable, this set costs $12, includes Stepper Motor, Cable, M3 screws and T nuts https://amzn.to/3hznawa (2) One T8 lead screw, it must be the same as the existing one, most stock printers came with a 8mm, 4-start and 2mm pitch lead screw, this is the most common one you can get, this set of 2 cost $14.99, which is $7.5 each https://amzn.to/36YZuex (3) A 5mm to 8mm coupler to connect the stepper and the lead screw, which cost $9 for 2, which is $4.5 each https://amzn.to/3zCDNxl (4) A support back plate to mount the lead screw, which can be 3D printed. Ender-3 / Pro Z axis dual Z-Axis lead screw plate: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:374... https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:338... Longer LK4, LK5 dual Z-Axis lead screw plate: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:477... (5) A stepper motor mount, which can also be 3D printed. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:463... (6) 3 long M5 screws for the support plate as the length of the original screws may become too short to mount the back plate, it would just cost $10 to get 50 of them, which is around $0.2 each. https://amzn.to/3zAVjBM (7) 3 M5 aluminum spacers to provide some clearance between the support plate and the wheels, this will cost around $8.5 for 10 pcs, which is $2.5 for 3 spacers. https://ebay.us/lB8gNK If you have none of these items on hand and need to buy all of them, the upgrade should cost you around $28. If you already have some of them, it should cost $20 or less. Creality Refurbished 3D Printers: (Save 30%-40%) https://www.comgrow.com/products/crea...
