CAMPING: Today we head to the beautiful Cowichan Valley! Nestled between Victoria and Nanaimo, on Vancouver Island, this lush, sun-kissed region is where you'll find everything from peaceful lakes and great camping to world-class vineyards and charming local shopping. So grab your favourite beverage and let’s dive into exploring the best of the Cowichan Valley! We are Scott and Steph and we would like to thank you for joining along our adventures. Just a short drive from the town of Lake Cowichan, are a few different camping options that offers lakeside spots with easy access to swimming, paddling, and boat launches. They are managed by BC Parks, and two are managed by a local forestry company. All of these sites are paid campsites and VERY busy in the summer so make sure to plan your trip here well in advance. This town is small but welcoming, with everything you need to stock up for your stay. If you’re planning to camp or spend time on the lake then they have everything you need from a pharmacy, liquor store, and hardware store. If you are shopping for food then head over to the Country Grocer for groceries and supplies. You’ll find plenty of fresh produce, local snacks, and everything you need for a lakeside picnic or BBQ. The grocery store here is very unique since it is a lake town so not only can you find all your grocery needs, but they also have a large selection of lake toys such as inflatable boats, tubes, beach mats, sunscreen and anything else you need for some fun on the river or Cowichan Lake. WINE TOUR: It's time to unwind with a little elegance. Cowichan Valley is known for the local vineyards. Averill Creek Vineyard is our first stop and it is perched on the slopes of Mount Prevost. This family-owned winery is known for its Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, and cool-climate charm. The tasting room offers panoramic views of the Cowichan Valley, and the patio is perfect for a laid-back afternoon sipping wine and soaking in the scenery. Their tastings are thoughtfully curated, often highlighting limited releases and estate-grown selections. And if you're hungry, grab one of their charcuterie boards – they pair beautifully with the wine and the view. Just a short drive away is another must-visit stop for wine lovers – Unsworth Vineyards. Located in the beautiful Mill Bay area, Unsworth combines heritage charm with modern winemaking. The estate is surrounded by rolling vineyards and lush gardens, and their award-winning wines include a standout rosé and a surprisingly bold Pinot Noir. The on-site restaurant is also a local favorite. Their farm-to-table menu changes seasonally, but you can expect fresh ingredients, thoughtful flavors, and dishes that pair perfectly with the wines. They have a beautiful patio that is pet friendly as well. Whether you're stopping for a tasting or staying for a meal, Unsworth is a feast for the senses. After the wine tasting we are going to take you on a hike to show a old truck that is in the middle of the forest. We are not sure how it got there but speculate it was on old logging road that mother nature has since reclaimed but if you know the story about this truck please leave a comment.
