In 1993 one of New Zealand's biggest companies was tricked into publicly mocking itself. Thirty years later two amateur sleuths try to solve the long-forgotten mystery of what happened, who did it and why? Prank of the Year is a six-part investigative documentary podcast originally airing through November and December of 2023. It's what happens when two podcasters have the time to take a vague, completely inconsequential childhood memory and devote five years to learning about it. In Episode 2 we somehow manage to talk for thirty minutes about the history of a telco, a Jack Russel, predatory capitalism and the level of sux-i-ness thereof. Includes interviews with Telecom press-reps, employees, and excerpts from a history of communication technology in NZ.
