After learning the minimum charge to have the well drillers come down was $5700, I knew I had to figure something else out! We purchased a well point, and some 1 and 1/4 inch pipe and got to work! We sourced the supplies for this well from the local home depot. Everything you need should be available at your local hardware store, or order the sand point from amazon here: https://amzn.to/2BdKyKH This well will allow us to be self sufficient with our water supply and save a small fortune vs having a professional water well drilling contractor come out to set us up with water. This setup won't work for everyone, but if you have Sandy soil, or at least not overly rocky soil... and a reasonably high water table, it maybe a great option for you. Materials required: Well point https://amzn.to/2BdKyKH Several lengths of 1.25" galvanized pipe https://amzn.to/2PBQBkX Several 1.25" galvanized couplings https://amzn.to/2Fwd8ef 50lb post pounder or other pounding tool https://amzn.to/2Dv8YR5 Manual pitcher pump https://amzn.to/2DO7B10 It's important to use the pitcher pump first even if you plan to use an electric pump, in order to clean out all the sand and dirt that will be built up in the well point from pounding it in.
