YouTube uses very low bitrate for encoding in 1080p and 1440p. Therefor most of the characteristica of movie grain and fine details get lost. Our workaround is to to double the framerate to 48p, showing each frame twice, and increasing the resolution to 2160p to force YouTube to apply their 4K bandwidth profile to the clip - while keeping the original motion unchanged. 👉 Why is this so impressive? Because it is based off the original DVD Release of Voyager that itself was crippeld by bad compression and mastering errors. Just imagine, what we could do, if we had proper access to the uncompressed standard definition video files on what the DVDs are based on.
