Buffalo | Fire in Abandoned Lovejoy District Home Quickly Extinguished by Firefighters

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 7, 2024 - At approximately 21:30 hours, firefighters from the Buffalo Fire Department (BFD) responded to a 1.5-story wood frame residential structure located at 84 Deshler Street in the Lovejoy neighbourhood of Buffalo, NY for reports of fire conditions on the second floor. Engine 22 was first due at the scene, confirmed the reported conditions and struck a first alarm. Multiple other engine and ladder companies responded to assist, as well as several battalion chiefs, fire marshals, and Rescue 1. A search was performed on the fire structure, which was quickly determined to be abandoned with nobody inside. An offensive attack on the fire was made, with firefighters stretching and operating three hose lines to rapidly bring the fire under control. Overhaul operations continued until around 22:30, at which point firefighters began to leave the scene. The cause of the fire was unknown at the time and would have been investigated by the departments' fire marshals. L'autopompe 22 était la première à arriver sur les lieux, a confirmé les conditions signalées et a déclenché une première alarme. Plusieurs autres compagnies d'autopompes et d'échelles sont intervenues en renfort, ainsi que des chefs aux opérations, des enquêteurs incendie et Rescue 1. Une recherche a été effectuée sur l'immeuble, qui a rapidement été déterminée comme étant abandonnée et sans personne à l'intérieur. Une attaque offensive a été lancée contre l'incendie, les pompiers ayant étiré et actionné trois boyaux afin de maîtriser rapidement l'incendie. Les opérations de vérification se sont poursuivies jusqu'à environ 22h30, moment auquel les pompiers ont commencé à quitter les lieux.
