Hey everyone! Here's the next episode of Scales & Tales with Metal Scales & Modes. I've had the idea for this lesson brewing on the backburner for a few years and I'm stoked to finally create this one, so let's dive in! This lesson revolves around targeting/demonstrating the most common scales that appear in metal music. As you'll notice, I skipped the beyond-common pentatonic/blues scales and start this lesson with Aeolian, and then we're hitting Phrygian, Locrian, Harmonic Minor, Phrygian Dominant, and Double Harmonic Major. I've also selected using Drop-D tuning in this lesson, and the basic premise we're using here revolves around locating these scales in three separate positions/octaves, and then combining the three positions into one great sounding fretboard-expanding exercise. As you'll see, there's a lot going on and shared in this lesson, so if you're curious to learn more about scales, especially the most common scales found in metal music, not to mention expanding your technique, fretboard knowledge, and more - this lesson is totally for you!
