Autosolo in a Tesla Model 3 - Brands Hatch, 27th February 2022

On February 27th 2022, Sevenoaks and District Motor Club hosted an Autosolo at Brands Hatch racing circuit. This event attracted the biggest entry of EVs in UK club motorsport to date. 9 Teslas and a Nissan Leaf formed the EV class. Up to now, only big international championships such as Formula E and Extreme E have seen more EVs competing on UK soil. An Autosolo is a great way to start in motorsport. It involves driving around a course marked out with cones, against the clock. A standard production car can be used and no handbrake turns or reversing makes an EV such as the Telsa Model 3 a great choice. In this clip, John Chambers steers his way around the paddock course on his way to a class 2nd. Multiple UK Autosolo Champion, Alan Wakeman took the class honours and came a very creditable 6th overall out of 60 entries. They were both driving a Tesla Model 3 LR fitted with a Tevo Solutions Bilstein coilover kit. 2022 will see more outings for EVs at national motorsport events including the Long Course Sprint at Abingdon on April 10th and the Ray Heal Memorial Sprint at Lydden Hill on July 16th.
