🌱 Different kinds of devotees and their bhakti journey: Devotees who want to get rid of pain or seek recognition are dependent on people or external circumstances, rather than on Kṛṣṇa. Devotees who are curious and seek answers to general questions or knowledge about Bhagavān are dependent on information or specialized knowledge of Bhagavān. All of the above are considered pious, and their actions fall under piety. Devotees who are in complete knowledge of Bhagavān and are constantly (unconditionally and uninterruptedly) engaged in loving devotional service are most dear to the Lord (Bhagavad-gītā 7.16–7.17). How can the first four categories of devotees come to this platform of unconditional loving service to Kṛṣṇa? When one fully depends on and follows the instructions of a śaraṇāgata bhakta—a pure devotee who is completely dependent on and in love with the Lord—these categories of devotees can become purified and develop a taste for the love of God. Note: The Lord has always had, and will always have, unconditional love for us. It is we who are unable to steadily perceive that love and serve on that unconditional platform. The jīva cannot attain this on its own without taking shelter (āśraya) of guru-tattva, through whom we receive the mercy of Gaurāṅga. 🙏🙏
