Failte and Welcome to EireRider my name is Ben, Today we will be heading to the landmark Knocknarea in Sligo which is steeped in history going back to 4000BC. Queen Meave Cairn or tomb stands as a monument on the top of the hill with evidence of further tombs and Neolithic settlements on the west and east side of the hill. The hill commands views of the surrounding area and beyond going as far as Benbulbin, Ox Mountains, Sligo and Ballysadare Bay, Sligo, Union Rock as well as Leitrim and north Sligo. The mountain stands as 327m. The view from the top is impressive and worth every ounce of energy to get to the top. The hike up and take a lot of energy so ensure you have had a good breakfast or lunch before you head up and ensure you have a good amount of water with you. Although strenuous the hike is very rewarding. There are numerous walks you can take once at the top so ensure you have plenty of time to explore. It is a truly breathtaking location in Sligo and along the Wild Atlantic Way. It is well signposted to get to the site so just follow the Knocknarea brown signs and you will be fine. The google plus code is below for use in Google maps: 7C5G+G6 - Upper Strandhill, County Sligo. As the site is a national monument you are not permitted to fly a drone without prior approval and you will require insurance. You will also require a drone license. No drone footage was included in this video. As with all my footage I only film in 4K and I use the Go Pro 9 Camera to offer you the best experience of the highest quality. Thanks for watching... Please like, comment and subscribe. See you all on the next video. Ben EireRider
