Hey guys, new guitar on the channel, please welcome the 1939 Epiphone Emperor in natural finish (to compare with the sunburst one already on the channel, also from 1939). How could we live in Paris and not sing about the great Mona Lisa from le Louvres? I’ve decided to play a version of Mona Lisa, tune made world famous by Nat King Cole. It was composed in 1949 by Jay Livingston and Ray Evans. I’m playing a 1939 Epiphone Emperor (18.5 inches lower bout, parallel braced, long scale) which weirdly has a thin little rubber layer under the tailpiece. This video was recorded keeping it, but I took it off since then and the guitar feels more alive without it, especially in the midst that got deeper. I will post another video to compare in the future). The guitar is strung with D’Addario nickel strings round wound 12s. I’m using a Dunlop .71mm gator pick and the sound is captured by both a Neumann TLM 103 and a Bluebird microphone.
