I’ve sought to summarise the ideas and arguments of this Book of interlacing argument multiple ideas, and personal reflection, in two sections each with 3 parts. The first section Ive called 'Pandemic as a portal' and its first part 'Positioning Kline' locates her arguments within the context of personal instinct, political persuasion and Intellectual disposition. The 2nd part, 'Klein's Pandemic Journey' connects to both the personal and political dimenaions of the book, and tells the stoy of how she felt herself and her politics to be elclipced by the rising profile of Naomi Wolf (her Doppleganger) and the wider political movemnt wolf became part of. The 3rd part of this first section, ‘Political Metamorphasis' develops the spacifically political dimension of this process, identifying and exploring what she calls Diagnalism as a new formulation of riightwing populism. The second section Ive called Through the doppelgänger window and its first part 'Culture and Society' examins the way the figure of the doppelgänger has been expressed historically thrugh culture and the new ways that Klein seeks to utilise the doppelgänger framing applying it especally to the history and politics of Isreal. The 2nd part 'Capitalist Shadowlands' connects thses themes to the critque of capitalism that runs through all her work, and how its imperitives create all kinds of doppleganger shadows and shadowlands to either hide or justify its cruelty. Fnally part 3 'Out of the shadows' considers how we might trancenced our own isolation in a world divided into doppleganger opposites, through such things as the process of un-selfing and a return to univeral solidarity.
