Can't open your lift gate? Tailgate button doesn't work or no power to the liftgate? Rear hatch is not opening on your Ford Escape SUV ( 2008 | 2009 | 2010 | 2011 | 2012 | XL | XLT | LIMITED ). Rear hatch being stuck is a very common problem on Ford Escapes. Reason for this is that water drains down into the liftgate mechanism and usually the actuator goes bad or wires and connectors get corroded and are causing problems. Sometimes it even affects the power button lift gate switch. Fix is to replace the actuator, fix the wires, clean the connections and / or replace the liftgate switch.
