At IWA 2026, we stopped by the Alpha Proj booth and came across something that looked like a two-shot revolver — but isn’t a firearm at all. This is a shock tube initiator used in construction and demolition applications. It’s designed to fire two 0.9 primers in order to initiate detonating wire. The device functions as a specialized industrial tool rather than a conventional firearm. The control layout resembles a revolver, but the cylinder release functions as a safety, and the unit is built from zinc alloy. It was developed in response to demand from construction industry clients who needed a replacement for older, worn-out initiator tools. This is not a commercial handgun, not chambered in conventional ammunition, and is intended strictly for industrial use. One of the stranger things we’ve seen at IWA — and that’s saying something.
