Medicated Chick Starter Feed vs Non-Medicated - MAKE The CORRECT Choice

When choosing between feeding medicated vs non-medicated chick starter you want to consider all the information available in order to make the correct educated decision. Coccidiosis is the quickest, biggest killer of baby chicks. None the less, the same one choice, may not be the correct answer for everyone. Things are rarely a one size fits all scenario in life, and this situation is not different. Medicated Chick Feed has amprolium in it, which is a thiamine blocker. Coccidiosis needs thiamine in order to reproduce and multiply in the chickens gut. Blocking the thiamine starves and kills the Cocci. The danger lies in the possibility of thiamine deficiency can cause wry neck and star gazing in chickens. Medicated Feed does not treat the cocci, only a preventative, you need CORID to treat if your chicks/chickens get coccidiosis. Neither coccidiosis or vitamin deficiency are fun to deal with but we can be prepared.
