India climbed up six places in the World Bank’s Logistic Performance Index 2023, it’s now ranked 38 in the 139 country index, up from 44 in 2018. Word Bank puts Modernization and digitalization as the key reasons for India, to leapfrog advanced countries. India has moved up to 22 ranks for international shipments in 2023 which was 44 in 2018. It has also moved four places up to 48 in logistics competence and equality in timelines. The average dwell time for containers between May and October 2022 was three days for India, which is much better than some of the industrialised countries, according to the World Bank report. India’s successful End to End supply chain digitalization in recent years has shortened port delays by up to 70 % compared to those in developed countries. Moreover, demand for green logistics is raising, with 75 % of shippers looking for environmentally friendly options when exporting to high income countries. This Global recognition is an outcome of dedicated efforts by The Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways backed up by the GOI’s tailormade initiatives like PM Gati Shakti and National Master Plan for Multimodal connectivity to reduce logistics cost and boost the economy. MoPSW is determined to achieve more such experiences and pass many more milestones to take India at the highest pedestal of Global maritime sector. #gatishakti #atmanirbharbharat #world
