"The Care Leaver" project will look to address the lack of aspirations in children in care with a particular focus on inspiring care-leavers with positive messages that can invoke a real change in attitudes towards their futures and build self belief. "The Care Leaver" is a concept driven by the real life experiences of Luke Rodgers, a care leaver who overcame adversity to set up his own award winning social enterprise "Foster Focus". Luke, who is the Unltd "Young Social Entrepreneur of the Year 2014", will work in partnership with Inspired Youth, a multi award winning social enterprise who use arts and media as a tool to make a social impact. Using a film exploring Lukes own life story, the project will explore the life chances of care-leavers in the UK in attempt to draw together powerful and inspiring resources for an outreach campaign aimed at care leavers. A series of posters will be produced to accompany the film to push key messages around aspirations and positive futures. The film will then be screened in a series of outreach events led by Luke Rodgers and would include guest speakers key stakeholders and NGOs, professionals, researchers and of course young people (care-leavers). The project is born out of a passion to invigorate young minds who's lives have been challenged by experiences of care, from rejection, abuse, broken homes and lack of love encouragement and support. Our project uses real life to give positive examples of care leavers who are and have gone on to greater things in life than the limitations put on them by adults and professionals in their life.
