In part 3 of the FirebaseUI Firestore tutorial, we will finally create our FirestoreRecyclerAdapter and display the documents from the Firestore database in our app. The FirestoreRecyclerAdapter is a subclass of the normal RecyclerView.Adapter and takes care of most of the complicated stuff like reacting to dataset changes and maintaining the model List. Like a normal RecyclerView Adapter, it needs a ViewHolder and has an onCreateViewHolder and onBindViewHolder method where it binds data from the model class to their corresponding views in the itemView layout. When we instantiate the FirestoreRecyclerAdapter, we have to pass it a FirestoreRecyclerOptions object which contains a Firestore Query. With orderBy we can order the items in this query by a field in ascending or descending order. With startListening and stopListening we tell our adapter when to start and stop updating it's dataset, for example in the onStart and onStop activity lifecycle callback method.
