It takes two to tango, or in this case, two lathes! I was originally going to do everything on just one lathe: the big Grizzly that I purchased from an estate sale earlier this year. Unfortunately I couldn't get the blank to mount on it, so I started on my Laguna to round it and add a tenon. From there it was off to the big Grizzly to get it shaped and hollowed out. The original owner took excellent care of this machine and it's still just as smooth as warm butter. The extra weight from the custom base certainly helps with that too... I did move back to the Laguna in the end for all the sanding. The corner where the Grizzly is doesn't have dust collection, so I figured I'd leave the dust out of the rest of the garage workshop... The bowl has been finished with several coats of RMP Finishes (originally Real Milk Paint Company) wood wax for a nice soft shine that's also food safe.
