ROUGH crossing on the NorthLink Ferry!

We set sail on one of our ROUGHEST crossing yet on the NorthLink ferry from Stomness, Orkney to Scrabster, mainland Scotland. We are used to some rough crossing on the NorthLink ferry often travelling from Aberdeen to Lerwick, Shetland on the 12+ hour overnight crossings and this lived up to some of them! There had been weather warnings of high seas which meant the journey was delayed 30+ minutes which give us an idea of what we were in for. As we left the calm water exiting Stromness harbour we could see the rough waves ahead in the Hoy sound! We had been on a short trip over to Orkney where we had an incredible encounter with a pod of orca (Busta with the 65s & 64s) and also had an amazing time experiencing 'Orktoberfest' if you haven't watched these videos you can watch them here!    • Watching ORCA from a ferry in SCOTLAND!   The NorthLink is one of two ferries that allow you to travel from mainland Scotland to Orkney, the other being Pentland ferries. NorthLink is currently the only passenger ferry that allows to travel from mainland Scotland to Shetland which sails from both Aberdeen and Orkney.
