Howdy, this is David Groce, your Texas Tax and Law man wishing you a Happy Thanksgiving on our Fifth Anniversary of our YouTube Channel. Proverbs 15:15 in the American Standard Version says “ All the days of the afflicted are evil; But he that is of a cheerful heart has a continual feast.” This is a great verse for Thanksgiving and living our daily lives. Zig Ziglar famously said it was our attitude, not our aptitude, that determines our altitude. I’d add a good old fashioned Amen to that. This Thanksgiving season I challenge each of us to make a list of things we’re thankful for. I know we live in busy and tumultuous times, when the airwaves are flooded with constant worries, rising inflation, political change, and threatened shortages. But even still, whether we have a lot or a little, our attitude will determine the joy and quality of each day. Start your list of thanksgiving with thankfulness for being able to see, hear, walk, talk, move, and think. For some of us, that is harder now than it used to be. I was thinking about my mama in the last year of her life, how she struggled with her eyesight and her ability to read. She had to get her strongest reading glasses and brightest light to read the words in her bible. I would sometimes read to her and she would close her eyes and let the words sink in. . . With a big smile on her face. Give thanks for those near and dear to you. For those who forgive you when you’re acting surly and not the most loveable. My daddy says, friends are those who know all our faults and love us anyway. I am so thankful to be able to write down the names of those friends and family members. Give thanks for your thanksgiving dinner, whether its beans and weenies or a thanksgiving feast. Most of us will enjoy time with our loved ones. Give thanks that you’re not alone. Give thanks for your work, however hard or humble, at least someone needs you. You make someone’s life better. Finally, give thanks to the Lord, because all of these good things come from him. While I’m at it, please receive my heartfelt thank you. Thank you for letting me and my firm serve you. We love being part of your life and helping you with your tax and legal work. Thank you for providing me and my family a living. Without you, I would not have a business or work to do. In sum, I can’t complain if I’m busy counting my blessings. Like the old hymn says - “When upon life's billows you are tempest tossed, When you are discouraged, thinking all is lost, Count your many blessings, name them one by one, And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done.” Until next time, adios.
