This year, pilots and co-pilots received their nominations from the Inspector of the Air Force, Major General Pilot Dr. Ireneusz Nowak, and Brigadier General Pilot Dr. Eng. Krzysztof Cur, Rector-Commandant of the Polish Air Force University in Dęblin. The history of Polish helicopter sports dates back to the 1960s and has its roots in the military, specifically in search and rescue operations. In the 1970s and 1980s, the Polish Armed Forces played a crucial role in promoting this discipline in Poland, both by participating in competitions and organizing national and international sporting events. Until 1981, the Polish military was actively involved in helicopter sports, with military pilots forming the core of the national team. They gained experience and achieved success in international competitions, showcasing Polish aviation on the global stage. Unfortunately, after 1981, due to changing political and organizational conditions, the military’s involvement in this discipline was suspended.
